Traveling The Oregon Trail Yet Again, And Loving It!

I was helping my wife in her 4th grade class today installing the PVC pipe on her tables so each one becomes a covered wagon (Its been a few years now since I’ve been able to do this project myself, so she’s the expert now). This is such a great class project and my original post about it where I go into more detail is one of the most viewed on this blog. Let us know if you try it yourself.

Learning is messy!

  1. Mr.Crosby,
I love this idea for a table. This a very creative. I’m going to try it with my classroom for sure. Thank you so much for posting wonderful creative ideas. I look forward to reading many more.

  2. This is such a creative idea. We learn about the Oregon Trail in my 4th grade class, but not to this extent. I am thinking about trying the PVC pipe “covered wagons” this year in order to get the kids more involved. Ideas like this help the students to feel like they are playing the part and helps them to become more involved in the lesson. I have a really good webquest that we use for this activity. I think your creative idea will add a lot to the lesson.
